At a first glance, I think maybe the best way to describe Jess' blog would be "cynical."

But I don't really think that's what it is at all.

Her blog is full of Real Things that happen to her, and the way she copes with them.

Sometimes it's not always the best way, but hey. Who really knows how to deal with everything that happens to them?

It's very clear that she loves her family and that yeah, they're a little broken, but they're alright.

Family is a strong theme through most of her posts, which probably is the most important thing to write about.

"most teenage girls by the age of 17 have named at least 3 of their future children

and one or two of their soon to be pets

but to me, the name has never been half as important as the person bearing it"

She's wise. She's also creative, with so many poignant metaphors about Calvin Klein and J Crew and Hot Topic that I can't help but steal a little bit of it sometimes. Her writing has got layers. because it's so many different things.
